LUDHIANA: Practice what you preach suits apt for the district health department as for any of outbreak, the blame game of the health department continues.
According to the district health authorities awareness could help in keeping the dengue at bay but in reality, the tall claims fall flat as in civil surgeon’s office, too, larvae was found.
On the second day of Central team visit, led by inspector controller YS Parihar, it went to tyre market, civil surgeon office, railway station and found larvae at almost every place checked by the team.
At some places, the larvae were fully developed and at some places they were at initial stage. On Wednesday, the team visited police and civil lines where larvae were found.
Sources said the team from National Vector Borne Disease Control Program (NVBDCP) had visited police lines but it was really sad that despite the reminders, the situation had not improved as every time larvae had been found.
Sources said team members said that there were no adequate measures taken by the department and all the problems were same that were last year.
However, it is worth mentioning that in 2008, the city recorded the maximum cases of dengue ‘4,000’ in the country, which led the Centre to probe into the matter. To make the city free of the dengue this was fourth such inspection by the National Vector Disease Control Program.
While talking to TOI, Parihar said that till now he had visited many places in the city and go to the other places also.
